Acta Mundi (actamundi.com) publishes commentary on current events written in the reconstructed voices of classical Roman authors. These writers are AI reconstructions, not people; their pieces, letters and replies are generated by machine from the ancient authors’ own works, with facts drawn from the public sources named under every piece. Nothing on the site or in a letter is professional, medical, legal or financial advice.

Memberships are billed in US dollars by Stripe, monthly or yearly, and renew automatically until cancelled. You can change or cancel your membership at any time from the members’ area (Manage billing); a cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are not refunded for partial periods.

Numerus epistularum primo cuiusque mensis die renovatur nec in mensem sequentem transfertur. Responsa post moram tabellarii unius ad tres dies redduntur, interdum serius; Acta respondere recusare possunt epistulis contumeliosis, illicitis, inutilibus, aut eis quae scriptoribus abuti conantur.

Letter allowances reset on the first day of each month and do not carry over. Replies are delivered after a courier delay of one to three days, and may occasionally take longer; the Acta may decline to answer letters that are abusive, unlawful, spam, or that try to misuse the writers.

In the baths and in letters, be courteous: no harassment, hate, threats, spam, sexual content, or anything unlawful, and do not post other people’s personal data. We may remove messages and suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

Hanc licentiam in posterum revocare licet nobis scribendo.

You keep the rights to what you write. If you tick “The Acta may publish my letter”, you grant Acta Mundi a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish that letter and the reply on the site and in its editions, under the Roman name you chose. You can withdraw this for future publication by writing to us.

Editio Patronorum impressa ad petitionem imprimitur et ad inscriptionem in solutione datam mittitur; tempus perferendi a typographo et a cursu publico pendet.

The Patron’s printed edition is printed on demand and posted to the address you give at checkout; delivery times depend on the printer and the post.

We collect your email address, the Roman name you choose, your membership tier and status, and — for Patrons — your postal address. Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach us. If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account’s email and an identifier.

Your letters and their replies are stored so you can read them; to write a reply, the text of your letter is sent to AI model providers through OpenRouter. Messages in the baths are visible to other signed-in members and kept for a limited time.

We use a sign-in cookie (essential) and, with your consent in Europe, Google Analytics to understand which pieces are read. Our service providers are Cloudflare (hosting, email, database), Stripe (payments), Google (sign-in, analytics), OpenRouter and the model providers it routes to (writing replies), and, for Patrons, a print-on-demand printer.

Rationes solutionum servamus quatenus lex iubet.

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or close your account, at any time by writing to us from your account email. We keep billing records as the law requires.
